Tips for Disney

Pic: Animal Kingdom – me + my best friend Katelyn. We lucked out and got to go on a trip to Florida together at the end of February before the Coronavirus crisis hit. We LOVE rides and we’ve been to DisneyLand & DisneyWorld together in the last year (for gymnastics meets). If you want some tips for Disney, here’s my top 10…

  • For sure the #1 tip: Find the Dole whip locations and stop by every. chance. you. get. Most important tip! In Disneyworld, Dole whip is easiest to get at the Polynesian Resort Pineapple stand (short lines everyday). It’s also available in the Magic Kingdom right next to Aladdin’s Magic Carpet Ride in Frontierland – but it’s a really long line to get it in the park. In Disneyland, there’s a Dole Whip stand just as you’re entering into Frontierland (go left after walking through Main Street).

  • Picture idea! Look out for a Cast member holding a big bundle of balloons and ask if you can hold the balloons for a quick pic. They are always really nice and let you get a photo op.

  • Pick up some magic bands!! They are super cute and a lot easier to use than the ticket cards! The Mickey cards can be a handful – hard to dig out every time to enter a park or Fastpass line. The magic bands connect to everything you do at the parks so it makes it really easy. You can get all your pictures connected and so much more.

  • Bring snacks + treats with you. You are going to get tired and hungry after running all over the parks. It’s so good to have food along!  We brought snacks and water with us everyday and it worked out so good (especially when we were in long lines). My favs: PB and banana sandwiches (cut up in 1/4s), almonds, granola, carrots, cucumbers. It’s also great to have candy like jelly bellys, lollipops, and gum. The 2 hour line for Avatar was way more fun when we could make it a jelly belly party.
  • Make sure to reserve Fast passes weeks ahead or you might not have the best options.
  • The best ride is Pandora at Animal Kingdom.  Don’t miss it!  Even if you have to stand in line for 2-3 hours, it’s worth it.
  • Go as many days as you can because you get a better deal when you buy more days.  It’s nice to have the flexibility to come and go over different days.  On our most recent trip we went for 5 days and it was good to stretch it out.  That way we didn’t feel like we had to cram too much into 1 or 2 days.  We could take our time and go for shorter times each day, which made it nice to hang out at the pool and do other things too.
  • Another favorite treat at the parks and resorts was the Fresca strawberry fruit bars.  So good!  Made from fresh strawberries!  Very healthy and so yummy!
  • Take a ride from Magic Kingdom on the ferry boat to the Polynesian and/or Grand Floridian.  It’s fun to ride across the lake and check out the beach areas at the Disney Resorts.
  • If it rains, don’t leave!  Grab a poncho and stay for the fun!  The lines are a bit shorter and it’s a way to make rainy day memories.
